You have done convention halls. Climate controlled, flat floors, predictable lighting. Then you get a spot at a music festival or outdoor arts festival and everything changes.
Festival vending is a DIFFERENT game. Here is what catches vendors off guard.
Wind Is Your New Enemy
Indoor conventions have no wind. Festival tents and outdoor stalls have plenty. Everything that is not anchored will move, fall, or fly. Lightweight displays need to be weighted at the base. Products need to be secured. Banners need to be tied down, not just hung. Our modular display kit panels interlock and hold rigid, but add weights or clips at the base for serious wind.
Sun And Weather Change The Rules
Direct sunlight fades products, heats your booth, and makes printed signage unreadable with glare. Rain is worse. Bring a canopy with sidewalls. Position your display so products are shaded. Bring zip-lock bags for prints and paper products in case of surprise showers.
The Customer Is Different
Festival attendees are in a different headspace than convention goers. They are relaxed, wandering, maybe not planning to buy anything. Your display needs to stop them with something interesting, not just with product. Interactive elements, live demonstrations, or a display that is visually striking enough to break their walking rhythm.
Ground Surface Matters
Grass, gravel, uneven pavement. Your table might wobble. Bring shims or levelling wedges. Your display needs to be stable on any surface, not just a flat convention hall floor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my convention display at a festival?
The structure, yes. But protect it from weather and anchor it against wind. Indoor-only materials like cardboard and untreated paper will not survive outdoors.
What about power for lights?
Many festivals provide power but charge extra. Some do not offer it at all. Bring battery-powered lights as backup. LED strips with battery packs run all day.
Is festival vending more profitable than conventions?
It depends on the festival. Large music festivals can outperform conventions. Small local festivals might not. Research the audience size and vendor fees before committing. Bring your best setup either way with our full kit range.
