How to Display Prints, Posters and Stickers So They Sell

Prints, posters, and stickers are the backbone of most artist alley tables, and they're also the easiest thing to display badly. A flat stack on the table looks like a garage sale. Here's how to actually get people to stop, look, and buy.

Vertical beats flat, every time

If your prints are lying flat on the table, someone has to already know they want to look down and dig through a stack to see them. Nobody does that while walking past a row of forty other tables. Get your prints up and facing outward at eye level, where people browsing at a normal walking pace can actually register what they're looking at.

This is the single biggest thing that separates tables that sell from tables that don't, and it's not really about the art itself, it's about whether anyone can see it in the first three seconds of walking by.

How to actually hang them

• Use a backdrop with hook points rather than taping prints to a folding table skirt
• Bag prints in clear sleeves so handling doesn't damage stock while browsing
• Group by size or series, not randomly, so the eye has a pattern to follow
• Put your best 2-3 pieces at true eye level, not above head height where they get missed
• Leave a little breathing room between pieces, a cramped wall reads as clutter

Stickers need a different approach

Stickers are small, cheap, and impulse-driven, which means the display job is different: make it easy to grab, easy to see the whole design, and easy to browse without knocking ten others onto the floor. A slatwall or grid with individual sticker sleeves works well. So does a tiered riser on the table itself, angled so each row is visible instead of stacked flat behind the row in front.

Whatever you use, keep your bestsellers at the front and center, roughly hand height. That's the zone people reach into first, almost on autopilot, and it's a good spot to put the design that's easiest to say yes to on impulse.

Posters are their own category

Posters are big enough that one well-placed piece can anchor your entire table's visual identity. Use it as the centerpiece of your backdrop, ideally the first thing someone's eye lands on.
