The Height Mistake: Too Tall, Too Short, And What's Right

Every vendor eventually asks: how tall should my display be? Too short and nobody sees it. Too tall and it looks like a wall. Here is the height breakdown that actually matters.

Q: How tall is too short?

Anything below the table surface is invisible. Seriously. If your display does not rise ABOVE the table edge, it does not exist to anyone more than three feet away. Table height is usually around 75cm. Your display needs to start there and go up.

Q: What is the sweet spot?

Eye level. For most adults, that is around 150 to 175cm from the floor. Our modular display kit builds five panels high at 175cm, which puts your top shelf right at eye level. That is where your hero product goes. The stuff people see first from across the aisle.

Q: Can you go too tall?

Yes. Anything over 200cm starts feeling like a wall. It blocks light, creates a claustrophobic feel at the table, and makes the vendor behind it invisible (they will not be happy). Some conventions have height limits in their vendor agreements. Always check.

Q: Does height matter more than width?

For visibility from a distance, absolutely. A narrow display at 175cm is more visible from the aisle than a wide display at 75cm. You can always add width later. Height is the FIRST upgrade every vendor should make.

Q: What about eye level for seated vendors?

If you sit, your eye level drops to about 120cm. But remember, your display is for the CUSTOMERS, not you. Build it for standing shoppers. If you need to sit, sit to the side so the display stays unblocked.

Q: What height works for kids and families?

If you sell to younger audiences, put impulse items at 90 to 120cm. That is kid eye level. Hero products still go at adult eye level. A modular system from our full kit range lets you set shelves at different heights for different audiences.
