Escaping The Just Another Table Trap

Picture this. You've been prepping for weeks. Your prints are perfect. Your prices are fair. You've got change, bags, business cards, the works. You arrive at the convention, set up your table, lay everything out neatly, and then you look left. And right. And you realise your booth looks exactly like everyone else's.

Flat table. Art laid out horizontally or leaned against whatever propping solution you grabbed last minute. Maybe a small wire rack. A printed banner draped over the front of the table. You've fallen into the Just Another Table trap, and it's the most common mistake in artist alley.

It happened to a ceramicist we know. She'd been doing markets for two years with decent work and okay sales. Nothing terrible, nothing great. Her setup was a tablecloth, some risers, and her pieces arranged in rows. Clean, tidy, totally forgettable. One weekend she watched a neighbouring vendor with a vertical display absolutely crush it.
