Why More Stuff On The Table Is The Wrong Answer

Every con season we see the same pattern. An artist does their first event with 20 prints and sells 8 of them. So for the next event they bring 40. Then 60. Then they show up with a table so packed you cannot see the tablecloth, and their sales are somehow WORSE than the first event.

More product does not mean more sales. It usually means fewer.

When a customer walks up to a table with 60 prints, they experience what psychologists call choice paralysis. There are too many options to evaluate, so they evaluate none. They flip through a few, feel overwhelmed, and walk away saying "I will come back." They never come back.

When something sells, they swap in a new piece from the back. The table always looks curated, never desperate.

Your booth is not a warehouse. It is a gallery. A gallery does not hang every painting the artist has ever made. It hangs the ones that sell, with enough space around them to be appreciated.
